Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) warned that Chinese ownership constituted a national security threat. The CFIUS expressed concern that data from Grindr’s 27 million users-including private messages and HIV status-could be accessed by the Chinese government and potentially leveraged for blackmail.
